Country House and Dream Villa with Private Pool - Villa Chalikia

Villa Chalikia is a traditional country house with a private pool, located in the middle of a 2,500 m2 olive grove. Our holiday home is situated on a hill on the outskirts of Kamilari and just 3 km from the beach. From the rooftop terrace, guests can enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the sea with the legendary Psiloritis mountains in the background. Take in the spectacular sunsets, star-filled skies and the untouched nature.

The Living Aerea 
The entire villa is at your disposal -  a spacious living room / dining room, 2 bedrooms with ensuite facilities.

Our spacious property has an olive grove as well as a flower and herb garden. Guests can enjoy nature, tranquility and privacy. As soon as you open the door, you know that you have arrived….

Surrounding Area
There is a large range of activities available in the neighboring region. Enjoy the fine sand and shimmering clear water of Comos Beach. Hike through impressive landscapes or explore the nearby archaeological sites of Faistos, Agia Triada or Gortys. Hang out in the cool hippie village of Matala, find bargains at the weekly markets in Tympaki or Moires and sit down to delicious food sold at traditional taverns and rustic restaurants.

We are Rita and Stephan, a German-Swiss family with two teenage children. For many years, we have visited southern Crete for our holidays, and we have come to know and love this beautiful region of Greece.  It would be our pleasure to share our beautiful holiday experience and welcome appreciative guests to our home away from home.

Our house is officially approved, meets all the relevant criteria and has the seal of the Greek Tourism Authority (EOT Reg.-No. 1123963)

Great house, wonderful vacations!

Our beautiful, memorable, trip-of-a-lifetime began and ended at Villa Chalikia. From the comfortable and charming interior to the stunning exterior, we couldn’t have been happier with “our spot” in Kamilari. 

The interior has everything you need:  comfortable living space and well-equipped kitchen; two beds and baths; and of course, air conditioning if you visit in the middle of the summer as we did.

The exterior is quite serene and beautiful.  There are many spots to lounge and take in the sights, as well as a refreshing pool.  We happily remember the beautiful views from many outlooks at the Villa. Every morning we viewed the nearby Sea of Libya and enjoyed lovely mornings of coffee by the pool. As evening arrived, we watched the beauty of the setting sun. . .

Kamilari is within walking distance of the Villa.  There are many places to enjoy meals and drinks in town, as well as a friendly grocery store that offers everything you need to stock the Villa with a variety of food, beverages, and even necessities (sunscreen, toiletries, etc.).  A few very good restaurants are just down the road from the Villa—no need to walk to town.

By choosing to stay at Villa Chalikia, we were blessed to have hosts--Rita and Stephan—who provided a wide variety of information before we even arrived.  They answered our questions and told us about the town of Kamilari and the many places to visit nearby and farther afield.  We visited historic sites, monasteries, and quaint towns, and discovered shops with beautiful pottery, jewelry, art and more, because our hosts made is easy!

Also, there are local landlords who are available to help with any quick questions or recommendations.  They are a very interesting and friendly couple who welcome you on your first day and check you out on the day you leave.

We cannot recommend Villa Chalikia enough.  The location in southern Crete is peaceful and gorgeous.  You can visit most places on the island from the Villa.  Many of our favorite memories include the kindness and friendliness of all the people we met, and the gracious hosts who welcomed us to a beautiful, magical world.

Wonderful days

After 2022, we were guests at Rita and Stephan's for the second time, and once again it was a wonderful experience. The villa is still a dream for relaxation and perfectly equipped. The proximity to the village of Kamilari is great, yet the location of the villa gives you the feeling of having the entire area to yourself. The support from the on-site team and Rita and Stephan's care to make the stay as pleasant and uncomplicated as possible => perfect. Many thanks for that.
And yes, we want to come back :-)

Feeling at home from the first moment!

The house is a dream come true, it has everything you could possibly need and you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Very clean, equipped with all amenities, even an electric milk shaker for caffè freddo😋 and yoga mats 🧘‍♀️ The beds are extremely comfortable and the location is perfect. You can quickly reach the beach (recommended: Komos Bunga Bunga Beach Bar or Matala) and various charming towns. For me, it's absolutely the perfect place for a few relaxing days or weeks. Exceptional Stay at Vila Chalikia – A Peaceful Retreat in Kamilari

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Vila Chalikia in the charming village of Kamilari, and the experience exceeded all expectations. The villa is ideally located—peaceful and private, yet within walking distance of the village center, where you can find traditional tavernas, cafes, and small shops. The setting is serene, with beautiful views and a strong sense of calm throughout. The property itself is impeccably maintained, spotless, and tastefully decorated. The combination of modern comfort with traditional Cretan elements creates a very welcoming and authentic atmosphere. The villa is fully equipped with everything one might need for a comfortable stay, including a well-stocked kitchen and thoughtful touches such as local treats and quality amenities. The hospitality offered by the hosts was outstanding. They were warm, responsive, and attentive without ever being intrusive. From helpful local recommendations to their genuine kindness, they made our stay feel truly special. If you're looking for a place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and experience authentic Cretan hospitality, Vila Chalikia is an excellent choice. I would highly recommend it and would gladly return in the future.

Stylishly furnished with great attention to detail

In May 2025, we spent 10 wonderful days at the gorgeous Villa Chalikia. Located on a hill on the edge of the village of Kamilari, the villa has been stylishly furnished with great attention to detail – we immediately felt at home. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a fruit platter, homemade olive oil and honey, as well as wine and raki.
The tastefully landscaped outdoor area with a large pool and a roof terrace offers a wonderful panoramic view over olive groves to Kamilari, the sea and Mount Psiloritis.
Due to its location, the villa offers plenty of privacy, but the village with its recommended tavernas and a small, nice supermarket is only a 10 to 15-minute walk away. If you ever want to leave the beautiful pool terrace 😉, the spacious Komos Beach is only a few minutes away by car.
Communication with the owners, Rita and Stephan, prior to our trip was extremely pleasant and straightforward. They provided us with lots of good tips and recommendations (from car hire to hiking tours). If you have any questions while you are there, Andrea from the neighbouring village is always available.
The perfect place to switch off and unwind – we will be happy to come back.
